At our practice, your clinician may use a tool called AccuRx Scribe to help create accurate medical notes during your consultation. This page explains what it is, how it works, and how your information is kept safe.
What is AccuRx Scribe?
AccuRx Scribe is a secure NHS‑approved digital tool that helps clinicians create medical notes more efficiently. It uses Ambient Voice Technology (AVT) to transcribe what is said during your consultation and turns it into a structured draft summary that your clinician reviews before saving into your record.
AccuRx Scribe helps clinicians spend more time listening to you and less time typing.

How does AccuRx Scribe work?
- Scribe listens to your consultation and converts speech into text in real time.
- It produces a draft consultation summary, which your clinician checks, edits and approves.
- Certain measurements (e.g. blood pressure, height, weight, temperature or peak flow) may be saved as SNOMED‑coded entries in your record.
- The clinician maintains full control of what is added to your medical record.
Scribe does not influence diagnosis or treatment — it simply assists with documentation.
Does AccuRx Scribe record or save audio?
No.
AccuRx Scribe does not store any audio recordings of your consultation. The audio is transformed into text instantly and then deleted immediately.
This means there is no stored recording of your consultation for anyone to access.

What are the benefits for patients?
- Your clinician can focus fully on the conversation, improving communication and accuracy.
[accurx.com] - Documentation is quicker and clearer, supporting safe, joined‑up care.
- Important information is less likely to be missed.
Are there any risks?
Occasionally, AVT transcription tools can:
- miss information (omissions)
- include incorrect details (hallucinations)
For this reason, your clinician always reviews and edits the draft before it becomes part of your official NHS record.
